I was thinking about how people always apologize for messy their homes, and feel bad for not having magazine perfect clean houses. And I was thinking about how sometimes messy homes are more homey than some clean homes.
I mean obviously some messy homes are super gross, not homey, very bad, possibly a health hazard:
But on the other hand I think extraordinarily clean homes can feel kind of empty and fake, and not very homey:
Especially when you get the sense that everything inside is decorative and you're afraid to even sit down on the couch because you might ruin it with your human presence. It looks pretty but it doesn't feel like a place where humans live in my opinion
I think the homes that feel most homey are bursting with the personalities that live inside the home. Even though the adults who live there constantly apologize to the guests for the mess, sometimes a bit of mess feels good and gives the room personality.
